History

Porta Candia’s roots in the interior door industry run deep, with a family heritage dating back to the 1950s. Our journey began in 1924 when our great-grandparents migrated from the Greek island of Crete to Turkey. In 1950, our family established a furniture and joinery company, marking our entry into the woodworking industry. Those early years were defined by the meticulous craftsmanship required to create hand-made furniture. While much has changed in the industry over the decades, our love and passion for woodworking have remained steadfast. By the early 2000s, we had shifted our focus to wooden interior doors, and in 2015, we expanded our horizons, exporting our high-quality doors to various countries.

Meaning of Our Brand Name

Our brand name, Porta Candia, carries historical significance and a tribute to our ancestry. “Porta,” meaning door in Romaic, and “Candia,” the city from which our ancestors hailed, reflect our deep respect for our heritage.
